This was the big 10 for the Kirby Derby. Didn’t feel like wresting out the big camera so I dusted off the Leica without even knowing what film was in it.

Part parade, part drag race, part derby. Really, that’s all I got for this annual (damn near) Raleigh institution. With a new theme every year Kirby Derby’s costumes, floats and derby entries are always entertaining. This will be a bit of a rolling gallery. As events happen and I can go, I’ll update. Enjoy!

Look, I’m a fan of web, ePub and the whole Brave New World of publishing. But books that manage to transcend the expected and emerge as mechanical art objects are reminders that, technology be damned, there’s a special place for print.
