What’s not to love?
Look, I’m a fan of web, ePub and the whole Brave New World of publishing. But books that manage to transcend the expected and emerge as mechanical art objects are reminders that, technology be damned, there’s a special place for print.
The New Camera for Street Photography
It’s so easy to fall down the well of “need great gear to make great pictures.” It’s complicated. But taking pictures shouldn’t be.
Kirby Derby 2011
This was the big 10 for the Kirby Derby. Didn’t feel like wresting out the big camera so I dusted off the Leica without even knowing what film was in it.
2011 Love Hangover
Finally, the complete edit. I can’t believe how long it’s taken to pull this together. I’m sure, by now, Caroline is at least knee-deep in planning the next Love Hangover. Enough talk. Here’s the pictures. Looking forward to next year—and even getting the pictures posted up before the end of February.
Self Portrait Loathing
I could say, with a straight face, that part of what got me into photography was the fact that I hate having my picture taken. I do. I’m just not a fan. If you’re the guy with the camera, then well, it’s pretty easy to make sure you don’t end up on the wrong side of the lens. This year though, and I hate to call it a resolution, I decided that this year I’d be doing more portrait work.
Arches, Profile and Appetite 4 Art
I’m donating two prints to Appetite 4 Art this year. If you aren’t familiar with Appetite 4 Art you should check it out and consider attending (or even donating something to the auction). It’s a great event benefiting a great organization: Boys & Girls Clubs.
Love Hangover 2011, Preview
I won’t get a chance to all of these processed for a day or four, but figured I’d post up a little preview.
Federal Protection Services and Photography
Get into my office and discover that the links they’re providing are, to put it kindly, a bit awkward for getting something that you might actually want to print out and put in your camera bag.
Aperture 3. Now $120 Off.
As a pretty regular user of Aperture, seeing it available for almost a third of what it was gives me mixed feelings. It’s mostly good. I’ve had it for a while, but I’d hate to be the guy that bought it for $200 yesterday.
Happy New Year
Another year. Here’s to more portraiture in 2011. In the mean time, here’s a few shots inspired by last week’s snow. Wallpaper will continue in 2011, but January won’t hit until next week. Happy New Year!
